Can you imagine the heads that would explode if that really happened? 25th Amendment, man!

Well, it did, just not to Trump.

    RBG:

On May 19, I began a course of chemotherapy (gemcitabine) to treat a recurrence of cancer. A periodic scan in February followed by a biopsy revealed lesions on my liver. My recent hospitalizations to remove gall stones and treat an infection were unrelated to this recurrence.

Immunotherapy first essayed proved unsuccessful. The chemotherapy course, however, is yielding positive results. Satisfied that my treatment course is now clear, I am providing this information.

My most recent scan on July 7 indicated significant reduction of the liver lesions and no new disease. I am tolerating chemotherapy well and am encouraged by the success of my current treatment. I will continue bi-weekly chemotherapy to keep my cancer at bay, and am able to maintain an active daily routine. Throughout, I have kept up with opinion writing and all other Court work.

I have often said I would remain a member of the Court as long as I can do the job full steam. I remain fully able to do that.

False equivalence, though. The rules for appointments for presidents and supreme court justices are very different, as are the honest expectations of both. I get your point but it's still not quite the same.

It's not just about the expectations and rules, it's about the fact that she has not revealed this for two months. I understand the need for privacy, but as a public figure, would this lack of candor be acceptable for a President? That, more or less, was my point. I have little doubt that she can, for now, function in her role on SCOTUS.

I don't know if I am. I don't really have a proper handle on (1) how pervasive anti-white policies are going to be in the next few years and (2) which president would be better-suited to slow that process down, or at the very least bolster some kind of alternative culture that can push back. Because I have to say, on my end things look pretty damn nuts and getting worse.

Let's look at some recent video and judge for ourselves if she still has any cognitive skills.

I hope she hangs on until January.

I think it would be tragic to have Trump/McConnell do a quick replacement of her, especially if part of the process occurred after a Biden victory but before seating of the new Senate.

I don't mean tragic so much for the justice they'd appoint, rather I think that would significantly increase the support for court packing in response.

RBG is a person of consequence and The Supreme Court is still a dignified institution. I would hope we all have the dignity to treat her and the court with the respect it deserves.

Obviously we should do no appointment now should the worst happen.

Maybe, but she is smart enough to not allow much recent video to exist.

I took a quick look and can't find any from the past few years.

I might find some if I looked a some more.

RGB was great friends with Scalia.

As Andrew Sullivan says, these days that is enough to get your banished by the MSM

Indeed. There are several people on this forum with whom I disagree on many things. However, we are friends, and our political views don't get in the way.

DIdn't Reagan and Tip O'Neil have a great relationship as well?

Can you imagine Teh Donald and Pelosi sharing some whiskey on a Friday night?

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

I would watch that so hard.
