Trump: "I have liver cancer, 2 months into chemo, but I'm OK working"

In this age of watching the "conservative" judges take the opposite side from what might be predicted, I wonder about RBG's track record of interpreting the law in a way contrary to what would be predicted by her reputed politics. I mean if she just votes on the same side every time, her ability to do her job will last a lifetime, no matter how intellectually compromised she is.

I hope she hangs on until January.
I think it would be tragic to have Trump/McConnell do a quick replacement of her, especially if part of the process occurred after a Biden victory but before seating of the new Senate.
I don't mean tragic so much for the justice they'd appoint, rather I think that would significantly increase the support for court packing in response.

Nothing to worry about there. McConnell said it would be totally inappropriate for Obama to appoint a justice during the final months of his presidency, and he's nothing if not a man of principle.

Can you imagine the heads that would explode if that really happened? 25th Amendment, man!
Well, it did, just not to Trump.
RBG:
False equivalence, though. The rules for appointments for presidents and supreme court justices are very different, as are the honest expectations of both. I get your point but it's still not quite the same.

It's not just about the expectations and rules, it's about the fact that she has not revealed this for two months. I understand the need for privacy, but as a public figure, would this lack of candor be acceptable for a President? That, more or less, was my point. I have little doubt that she can, for now, function in her role on SCOTUS.

Yeah but you and I know that's not the game. She's obviously holding out for a Biden win.

Aren't we all.
I don't know if I am. I don't really have a proper handle on (1) how pervasive anti-white policies are going to be in the next few years and (2) which president would be better-suited to slow that process down, or at the very least bolster some kind of alternative culture that can push back. Because I have to say, on my end things look pretty damn nuts and getting worse.

God Bless her heart, wouldn't a Trump victory in November be an ollie-knocker?

I have lots of doubts. Anybody as old as RBG has to have some cognitive decline.

Maybe, but she is smart enough to not allow much recent video to exist.
I took a quick look and can't find any from the past few years.
I might find some if I looked a some more.

Tried to look it up but google failed me.
An ollie-knocker is to a thing, as a kahuna-poppa would be to a buck.

RGB was great friends with Scalia.
As Andrew Sullivan says, these days that is enough to get your banished by the MSM
Indeed. There are several people on this forum with whom I disagree on many things. However, we are friends, and our political views don't get in the way.
DIdn't Reagan and Tip O'Neil have a great relationship as well?
Can you imagine Teh Donald and Pelosi sharing some whiskey on a Friday night?

I would watch that so hard.
