If the charges are indeed true, people have done jail time for lesser crimes. I'd like justice to be served, whether he's not guilty or guilty, and would say the same if Obama did the same thing after leaving office.

And it sure would be nice, for the sake of the GOP's future, to get Trump out of the 2024 race. Although the debates and press conferences would be less entertaining.

What if there has been prosecutorial misconduct?

Wouldn't be the first time for Jack...

Have you read the relevant sections of the indictment or decent reporting on it? Are you aware of what Trump did?

You realize that there is a large and growing segment that has absolutely 0 trust in any evidence presented by the prosecution due to the overwhelming politicization and targeting of conservatives and Trump officials (not necessarily the same thing) over the past 10 years?

By the way, personally I think he did it many of the things alleged. I also think that maybe some are a wee bit exaggerated. I believe in a sane world that Trump should face criminal charges on these allegations, but espionage is WAY-WAY too far (and is likely his out, if there is one)… I also think at this point a another Trump presidency would be one of the worst things for the country.

But they better have all of their evidence lined up and it had better be unequivocal as to its authenticity. Even then, significant numbers will never believe it, and some of it will be on them as some are generally nutters and ignorant. But a lot of it will be on the Federal Government due to the last 15 years of lies and manipulation.

The government has been up to shenanigans far longer than 15 years. Pretty much they've always been this way. I know you knew that, but still. That's one reason folks were attracted to Trump's outside-the-beltway swamp-draining message, even though he ended up being the swamp monster itself and a beyond-expectations leader of beltway tomfoolery.

Nonetheless, the distrust of the DOJ that you're referring to seems to be more of a branch off the lying Trump Tree that many folks have picked their news apples from. Forget all the punditry, Trump broke many laws in regards to the handling of these classified matters and he brought this investigation on himself based on how he responded to Archives and DOJ requests. It's almost as if he.........gasps.... wants the attention. Few things matter to him more than being in the headlines and getting the ratings.

                            TDS, writ large.

Trump as the ultimate swamp monster is a bit laughable.

I don't think you can talk any sense to him. Some people get Trump so far into their limbic systems, to blame him for everything or to think he had control over everything while in office is an autonomic response.

It's sad, because the lad is not stupid.

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

Can someone come up with a definition of swamp that wouldn’t include Paul Manafort?

Trump didn’t gain anything from this crime. I know that’s not a legal distinction - but it makes it hard to sell this to the public.

It’ll come across as another process crime, no matter how damning.
