If the perp is shooting, it's legal to run him over down here.

Since he survived, he got away pretty lucky, I'd say. Running away whilst shooting at the police isn't really 'fleeing' in any rational world.

Yeah, he's fleaing alright.
Why should a cop get out of cover and return fire? Bystanders could get shot. I'd say they did right.

Yeah at that point the car is a weapon to use as much as a gun. A reminder of how brave you need to be as a cop... even in a car if someone is shooting at me it would take every effort not to instinctually scramble away.

He could've run faster, if he'd have pulled his shorts up.

When's the last time you were in Chicago, again?
In Chicago, the police aren't even allowed to pursue a suspected perp.
The cop-h8rs are going to say that at the moment he was run down, he was fleeing and not pointing the gun at anyone. It'll be interesting to see how his lawyer handles this.

That's like saying I wasn't drink driving as I wasn't actually ingesting a beverage at the point when I had the accident

A male peacock’s feathers make him slower and more visible to predators. But the girl peacocks like them. So they evolved. So it is with fashion choices.
