Yup. And it's damn well about time the GOP started getting serious about spending cuts.

I think the GOP lost a lot of credibility on fiscal responsibility when they piled on more debt while the economy was doing great. That's exactly when the bills should have been paid.
A little rich to come in now all concerned.

Well, sapphire, you want it now or none at all?
That's your choices. Pick one.

If the COVID emergency is over, why is Biden's deficit so high?

It doesn't matter what I want. I'm just making the observation that the GOP stance is hilariously phony.
This new populist strain of the GOP is just as spend-happy as Dems now, and is play acting conservatism in this instance for the theater of it.

No, answer the question, It's not rocket surgery and it doesn't require obfuscation.
Politics is the art of the possible. Cutting spending is a possibility right now. Do you want it or not?

I'd love a smaller government. But in this instance? No.
I think the risk of brinksmanship on the creditworthiness of the United States and is not worth any modest spending "wins" that'll be achieved for theatre.

Was cutting spending not possible when the GOP had control of the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives?

I thought deficits didn’t matter. Or is that just when we need a war?

Again, shitheads, politics is the art of the possible. You can cut or not.
It's a binary choice.

I must be missing something, Jolly is never (or at least hardly ever) so rude to the general members of the forum.
Are you OK, man? -

I'm not in the mood for idiocy. And this is shear idiocy. In politics, you take what you can get, when you can get it. Right now, leverage exists in order to wrangle some spending cuts. Nail Biden's hide to the wall and get your cuts.
Never look a gift horse in the mouth.
The rest of this harumph!, harumph!, is just horseshit. Smoke and policy mirrors. People complaining if you hung them with a new rope type of stuff.
Oh, but in the first reign of the Sun King a shadow was cast on the Eastern-most sundial kinda stuff. Water under the bridge. Sound and fury, signifying nothing. This is politics and it plays by its own rules.
People (mostly Dems) didn't understand when Trump threw off the remark the other night about leverage over the default. What he was saying, is that it's politics and you take advantage of your negotiating positions.
