That’s a relief.
I wonder what impediments, if any, prevent a municipality from instituting wealth taxes or transaction taxes. I’d imagine the taxing authority of cities, counties, and towns is defined by state statute, but I could be wrong.
I know there are such things in Ohio. For instance, I live in a township, which is not allowed by law to impose an income tax. I'd bet you are correct.

Nope, just a general observation about taxation and people.
Don't just think only about "cost", think also about "revenue." Doesn't matter if a place assesses zero tax, no one wants to be there if there is no money to be made despite their having zero tax rate.
