            The mayor is “distancing himself” from the plan, says Crain’s.

            That’s a relief.

            I wonder what impediments, if any, prevent a municipality from instituting wealth taxes or transaction taxes. I’d imagine the taxing authority of cities, counties, and towns is defined by state statute, but I could be wrong.

            If you don't take it, it can only good happen.

                He was so worried about the plan of the Chicago's mayor's friends that he left Republican-run Long Island?

                And he was so extra worried about it that he left even before the they released the plans?

                  I know there are such things in Ohio. For instance, I live in a township, which is not allowed by law to impose an income tax. I'd bet you are correct.

                    I know there are such things in Ohio. For instance, I live in a township, which is not allowed by law to impose an income tax. I'd bet you are correct.

                        The funny thing about people with money is they CAN move. It would seem Chicago is determined to repeat the mistakes of Detroit, which was also once a great city.

                                Don't just think only about "cost", think also about "revenue." Doesn't matter if a place assesses zero tax, no one wants to be there if there is no money to be made despite their having zero tax rate.
