The mayor is “distancing himself” from the plan, says Crain’s.
That’s a relief.
I wonder what impediments, if any, prevent a municipality from instituting wealth taxes or transaction taxes. I’d imagine the taxing authority of cities, counties, and towns is defined by state statute, but I could be wrong.

I know there are such things in Ohio. For instance, I live in a township, which is not allowed by law to impose an income tax. I'd bet you are correct.

He was so worried about the plan of the Chicago's mayor's friends that he left Republican-run Long Island?
And he was so extra worried about it that he left even before the they released the plans?
Damn, sing us a song, piano man.

Nope, just a general observation about taxation and people.

The funny thing about people with money is they CAN move. It would seem Chicago is determined to repeat the mistakes of Detroit, which was also once a great city.

Money is like water and will find its own level.

Don't just think only about "cost", think also about "revenue." Doesn't matter if a place assesses zero tax, no one wants to be there if there is no money to be made despite their having zero tax rate.

Ever since they renamed the Sears tower it’s been dead to me.
You know they renamed Lake Shore Drive too - now it's "DuSable Lake Shore Drive."
