I remember the first three times I felt “old”, meaning not a kid anymore.
- My dad turning 60
- My sister turning 30
- The first time a college student called me Mr. (I was a year or two out of college and was back doing campus recruiting)

That's a freaking awesome ad. Doesn't ring true for me a damn bit, though.
Used to be, my folks and I wouldn't understand each other. Like at all. But we cared about each other and we were always around. Which led to an absolute shitload of disagreement but at least there was some kind of relationship there.
Now, there's no disagreement and we get along fine, but they sure as shit aren't my parents. At least most of the time. They're crazy stoners who are finally enjoying themselves having left their offices, so thank goodness for that, and they do love their grandkid, which is great. But they have no idea who the fuck I am. After an 8-day stay, there might be up to 18 combined minutes of clarity in which they remember I'm their kid. Never lasts long, though.
It's not senility, at least not yet. They just retired from being parents in addition to their jobs.
I don't think that's normal, so I figured I'd ask.

@Aqua-Letifer
Aqua, are you serious that they are stoners? Like weed or whatever?How do they function? Are they driving while stoned? I'm trying to picture seniors doing this. No, not as a 'how to' example, more of a 'why would they' .

Aqua, are you serious that they are stoners? Like weed or whatever?Yep. It's pretty common among today's retirees.
How do they function?
That's why they do it. They've got a handful of health issues, and it's much harder to function without it.
Are they driving while stoned?
Nah, they're not that reckless (yet; who knows about later). But if they aren't traveling, they're gettin' high.

I'll wait until I'm in chronic rejection so the bullet from Mik's gun will be welcome.
Win win.
