Dedication can be carried a bit too far

It happened to a woman friend of mine in an ultramarathon. A woman in the crowd helped her out by giving a couple of water bottles and helped was her off before she got to the finish line. It's not all glamour.

Glamour? Where’s the glamour at all? I suspect you can name 10 winning marathoners. I suspect if we poll the entire forum without googling, we would collectively be able to name 10 winning marathoners…

Not sure why the woman felt the need to share that news. LOL

Back in my marathon-ing days, I would often take like 10 pee breaks during the race. Usually would try and find a tree but to be honest you see a lot of people squatting in the woods, men and women. Only one time did I have need to poop, and for that I found a portapotty. Even though my running partner continued running and was only a few minutes in front of me when I exited the bathroom, it took me like 6 miles to catch back up with him LOL

Back in my nights on the pee, I'd frequently eat 10 Marathons in an evening between pubs.
Sadly, they changed the name to Snickers, totally ruining the joke.

It’s not uncommon. I think quite a few who train for these events have an “Oh my gosh .. I need to go NOW” moment. It’s part of learning, getting to know what fluids, sugars & foods to put into your body before, during your races, especially in hot weather. For me, my ‘moment’ was during my 1st ING NYC .. the port a potties were full with lineups and I had to be scooted into a funeral home’s bathroom by a Jewish volunteer fellow. I made it. No mess. The lesson I learned was half-strength Gatorade only during my races.
