@George-K said in Tucker out at FoxNews:

The "Independent" claims Carlson was blindsided.

“Blindsided” Tucker Carlson was in the midst of negotiating a new contract with Fox News when he received a call from CEO Suzanne Scott on Monday morning telling him he had been fired from the right-wing network, according to a report.

Fox News announced that it had “parted ways” with its biggest star on Monday, days after settling a $787m defamation lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems over lies about the 2020 presidential election.

Insiders told Vanity Fair that Carlson was caught off guard by the news and had recently been negotiating his contract renewal through 2029.

The order for his firing is believed to have come directly from Rupert Murdoch.

On Monday night, his “Tucker Carlson Tonight” show was instantly replaced with “Fox News Tonight” hosted by Brian Kilmeade, who brushed over Carlson’s sudden departure.

“As you probably have heard, Fox News and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” he said.

“I wish Tucker the best. I’m great friends with Tucker and always will be. But right now, it’s time for ‘Fox News Tonight,’ so let’s get started.”

Carlson leaves behind a legacy of bringing far-right ideas and racism to mainstream audiences.

Before I take anything the "Independent" says seriously, I'll see what they say about racism at CNN and what they say about conspiracy theories at (left-wing) MSNBC.

According to all reports, Tucker was blindsided. He was working with his producers, putting together that evening's show. He was told he was fired 10 minutes before FOX announced it publicly. Most are saying the decision came directly from the Old Man.

It's going to be interesting. FOX Nation is struggling, but Tucker was their main draw. I think you can fold the tent on that one and throw it on the trash pile with CNN's effort. Bill O'Reilly at his zenith pulled about 4M viewers. Tucker is #1, but he pulls about 3M. OTOH, cable news numbers are down overall.

I've already mentioned NewsMax, but if CNN is really serious about getting back to the middle, they ought to pull a Brink's truck up to Tucker's house. I'd offer him two things...1) the 8P slot on CNN for the Tucker Carlson Show and a return of a show like Firing Line, that Tucker would host.

That would be great. Rather than having a pair of idiots shouting at each other, or worse, amplifying each other, a real discussion.

Maher has been trying that lately, I get the feeling.

@Jolly All reports? Seems like some say he walked out because he couldn’t do a story.

Saw that. Seems like the latest is crystalizing around the decision by Murdoch.

To be honest, everybody is just guessing right now, but this won't stay hidden for long. Too big.

            That is pretty outrageous.

I guess it shows how there are many ideas about the meaning of the word racism.

It makes a couple of good points: As we saw with Bill, the platform is bigger than the man. And though he’ll likely resurface somewhere, it won’t be with anywhere near as much influence.

And yes, his show did serve the purpose of finding message-board garbage and feeding it upward and outward.

What was he on about last week? The global conspiracy theory to get you to eat bugs?

Except the author of that "interesting" polemic of tribal hatred is off the deep end about Tucker and his influence.

I imagine it’s true in most if not all of the blm protests of 2020. And just as dishonest and misleading.

Not as dishonest or as misleading as that pack of lies listed above.

Recommend bouncing through Bongino's 4/25 podcast. Not sticking around for the whole thing, but for the inside baseball of cable news, streaming, podcasts and on demand video.

                                        Interesting stuff.

Tucker will soon be richer. A lot richer.
