    Whoa.

Someone commented that it's pointing at the ground. That might be, but Perry's claim that he was in fear for his life would stand, no?

    More:

But...grand juries never hear evidence for the defense. They are there to see if there's enough evidence to bring a case to trial. Was this supposedly exculpatory evidence presented at trial?

Andrew Branca is an attorney specializing in firearm law. He was an outspoken defender of Kyle Rittenhouse.

In this case, he says the conviction of Perry was legally sound:

Yeah, I figured there had to be something we weren’t hearing in the reporting of the case. Even the MSNBCs and such were failing to note that there were pictures and video and nothing showed the gun pointing at Perry.

This is the reverse Rittenhouse… Conservatives can’t claim self defense just because he had a big scary looking gun… And the earlier social media posts? Sounds like he was actually hoping for a problem. It reminds me of a chapter in The Wheel of Time… Aes Sendai were women that could “channel” vast amounts of magical energy, but they were constrained to only use the power if they felt their life was threatened. There’s a great scene where one of the heroes put two of them into a battle line specifically for them to be exposed to potential danger. He keeps asking “Are you feeling threatened yet?!” “No, not yet….. Okay, I am distinctly feeling threatened now, how about you, Jolene?”… it sounds like this guy was looking for an excuse to claim self-defense.

I'm disappointed in Abbott. He should have played this a bit more thoughtfully. Now, he's looking a bit like a puppet - which maybe an accurate representation, but he should have been smart enough to sidestep that accusation by saying something about how he's asked for the review committee to examine the evidence. Essentially, he said, "I've ordered the committee I appointed to find him not guilty at which point I'll rubber stamp their recommendation."

Carlson claims that the victim "raised his AK-47" and aimed it a Perry:

Kyle (I'm wearing glasses to look serious) Rittenhouse joins him.

Carlson has no way of proving his assertion. He should at the very least frame it as “If it’s true that he pointed his AK 47…

Everyone keeps bringing up that Perry was/is a serviceman, well the dead guy served, too. Just because you don’t like his politics and his cause, he was just as legally entitled to be carrying his gun as Rittenhouse was, his. Actually moreso…

Conservatives really shouldn’t be pushing on this one and really need to make sure of the facts…

I don't know about you, but I'm really getting tired of these assholes.

Since when did Kyle Rittenhouse become somebody who's opinion we should respect? He made some incredibly stupid choices. Two people died, and he avoided prison, probably rightly so. But he's a fucking imbecile for doing what he did.

I've already framed my opinions on Tucker Carlson, and I'd hate to be boring by repeating myself.

Also, didn't this guy get convicted in a court of law?

Isn't there a process for appealing legal convictions that doesn't involve some grandstanding politician just pardoning the guy because he doesn't like the look of it?

                  This is beyond stupid.

I've already framed my opinions on Tucker Carlson, and I'd hate to be boring by repeating myself.

Rittenhouse is destined for politics. He's already said so...

Based on what qualifications? As far as I can tell he's a stupid little shit who loves publicity but has never done anything worthwhile in his life.

Oh, look I've answered my own question.

That’s unfair and uneducated. The “little shit” was actually on hand providing first aid to protesters, cleaning graffiti, and yes.. Was defending business owners properties and livelihoods… I think that’s pretty fucking worthwhile. He turned up to a riot carrying a rifle. I thought it was an unbelievably stupid thing to do.

You clearly disagree. You're entitled to your opinion, as am I, even if you're completely wrong. The right wing media has turned this guy into a hero, as they tried to do with George Zimmerman until he imploded.

Carrying a rifle wasn't a great idea. Being there in the first place wasn't a great idea.

But you know what? Without that rifle, he might be dead right now.

Perhaps. But open carry seemed to be the norm that night, much as in the Austin case.

@Jolly in the interview with the police (never talk to the police without a lawyer present), he said that he was "afraid that the guy might take aim."

That's substantially different from "he DID take aim."

@Jolly what pisses me off is the fact that this was pointed out to the jury, and that's what they based their decision on. TuCa didn't acknowledge that, because...Tucker. At least be honest and say you disagree with the jury's decision and why.

                                          @George-K said in Justice Denied:

@Jolly in the interview with the police (never talk to the police without a lawyer present), he said that he was "afraid that the guy might take aim."

Case 1: I punched him because I was afraid he was going to put his bowtie back on.

Case 2: I punched him because HE WAS WEARING A BOWTIE and had a stupid smug look on his face.

Very different situations. The second one you're going to get a formal caution at the very least. The second one you'll get a small lump-sum payout.

                                          I was only joking
