I don't know about you, but I'm really getting tired of these assholes.

Since when did Kyle Rittenhouse become somebody who's opinion we should respect? He made some incredibly stupid choices. Two people died, and he avoided prison, probably rightly so. But he's a fucking imbecile for doing what he did.

I've already framed my opinions on Tucker Carlson, and I'd hate to be boring by repeating myself.

    I was only joking

Also, didn't this guy get convicted in a court of law?

Isn't there a process for appealing legal convictions that doesn't involve some grandstanding politician just pardoning the guy because he doesn't like the look of it?

      This is beyond stupid.

      I was only joking

Rittenhouse is destined for politics. He's already said so...

Based on what qualifications? As far as I can tell he's a stupid little shit who loves publicity but has never done anything worthwhile in his life.

That’s unfair and uneducated. The “little shit” was actually on hand providing first aid to protesters, cleaning graffiti, and yes.. Was defending business owners properties and livelihoods… I think that’s pretty fucking worthwhile. You give others shit for following one narrative from partisan hacks, and then believe another narrative from other partisan hacks.

He turned up to a riot carrying a rifle. I thought it was an unbelievably stupid thing to do.

You clearly disagree. You're entitled to your opinion, as am I, even if you're completely wrong. The right wing media has turned this guy into a hero, as they tried to do with George Zimmerman until he imploded.

Carrying a rifle wasn't a great idea. Being there in the first place wasn't a great idea.

But you know what? Without that rifle, he might be dead right now.

Perhaps. But open carry seemed to be the norm that night, much as in the Austin case.

But as I said, not a good idea to be there in the first place.

@Jolly in the interview with the police (never talk to the police without a lawyer present), he said that he was "afraid that the guy might take aim."

That's substantially different from "he DID take aim."

@Jolly what pisses me off is the fact that this was pointed out to the jury, and that's what they based their decision on. TuCa didn't acknowledge that, because...Tucker. At least be honest and say you disagree with the jury's decision and why.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Rittenhouse is destined for politics. He's already said so...

Based on what qualifications? As far as I can tell he's a stupid little shit who loves publicity but has never done anything worthwhile in his life.

Oh, look I've answered my own question.

The interesting thing is that the guy with the AK 47 in Texas likely WOULD be alive if he wasn’t carrying.

@Jolly in the interview with the police (never talk to the police without a lawyer present), he said that he was "afraid that the guy might take aim."

That's substantially different from "he DID take aim."

Case 2: I punched him because HE WAS WEARING A BOWTIE and had a stupid smug look on his face.

Very different situations. The second one you're going to get a formal caution at the very least. The second one you'll get a small lump-sum payout.

Problem is Tucker has to come up with something every night - and it's good to not overlap too often with his fellow Fox commentators. He's got a platform and has to deliver - as do the people on MSNBC and CNN.

So...they sniff and snoop for things to create controversy and retain viewers. Create interest and outrage.

I'm less enthused with Governor Abbott's performance in this matter. He really made himself look like a sycophant to Tucker's whims.

This is the only relevant part

This is a position that is taken immediately prior to engagement and firing. Every combat-arms, CCW, LTC, class that I have personally taken or instructed are very clear that this position is when you "turn the corner" from being an observer to engagement. While Foster is carrying a rifle in this case, this is the legal equivalent of a concealed handgun being drawn. Unlike the movies (and sometimes police), CCW holders and civilians are always taught not to draw or raise a weapon unless you intend to use it.

It was this action, clearly shown in the in the 2nd photo, that made it perfectly legal for Sgt Daniel Perry to kill Garrett Foster. This was a public, textbook case of a "good shoot" for personal self defense.

If this is true, if CCW and other classes teach that this “ready” position is considered an active threat in training and when you can legally engage, then it’s open and shut.

The question is one for experts, not me. Was a CCW instructor and expert engaged to testify to this fact to a jury?

Has a good guy with a gun stopped a bad guy with a gun at the event?
Would more guns have made people more polite at the event?

"A Texas judge rejected a motion Wednesday to grant Army Sgt. Daniel Perry a new trial after he was found guilty last month of killing a 28-year-old Air Force veteran, Garrett Foster, during an Austin Black Lives Matter protest in 2020. The decision comes as the Army is in the process of pushing Perry out of the service."
