The book reading that won’t happen

The drag queen story hour hosted by the NY Attorney General has been discussed on here before.
There was going to be a counter book reading a few blocks away by Libs of TikTok Chaya Raichik where she was going to be reading her new children’s book that is about warning children about people that tell you “don’t tell your parents”
There have been so many threats against Chaya’s event.. Threats of physical violence and abhorrent behavior that they, be had to cancel the event for fear of children’s safety. This is supposed to be about children, and people are threatening riots and violence at a children’s event. This whole thing is so out of hand…

Not very Brave.
So should I take Finley to an event where there are hundreds or thousands of these idiots running around with dildos on their head, screaming obscenities, threatening or even committing violence? To sit in a building with a riotous crowd yelling and screaming outside?
This is about protecting kids, that wouldn’t be protecting kids. And I hope the protesters at the AG event remember that as well…
Though now that I think about it, I think I will be taking Lucas to see one of these campus protests against conservative speakers some time in the near future.

I wasn't referring to you, but to the bookstore. I think they should go ahead and hold the event with a minimal attendance, just to draw the crazies. Sunlight and all that.

Ahhh, Brave is the publisher, not the store.

Whatever. If it's worth taking a stand, take it, and the consequences that follow. Folding to the bullying is a sure loser.

Ax only agreed because it's a great excuse to wear his dildo hat.

No. We agree from time to time. In this case he's right, as am I. The reaction to this provocative event was entirely predictable. They need to get a spine if they really think it is important, and I think it is.

Furthermore, it's easy enough to make noise, get some publicity, then retreat and hide behind claims of threatened violence. One can reasonably suspect that that is the organizer's game plan all along. Actually going through with the reading would dispel that suspicion.

What, you think an excuse is needed?

Having an event? Sure. Take the kids out of it. You can’t have a kids book event without children, and exposing them to the mob that day would be unconscionable when the whole point is meant to be about protecting kids.
