Trump says he expects to be arrested on Tuesday

In any situation, there exists a set of facts. They may not be readily apparent, but they're there somewhere. In this age of Internet and social, the obfuscation on Trump is at its uttermost. It is no longer possible to discover the facts, no. The best you can do is join the realm of the Right Clusterfuck or the Left Clusterfuck, and pretend to know the real truth
Belonging to neither of the clusterfucks, I will wait for the system to render the verdict. Let the chips fall where they may. If anyone broke the law, they should be held responsible. Period. Just like you or I would be held responsible. We should not break the system for a clusterfuck of any kind.

Agreed, but I was referring to right or left belief, not what is the truth.
Yes. I feel the same. Belief does not make something true. So much tribalism. It needs to go away.

While politicians shouldn’t be above the law, they shouldn’t be special targets either. And let’s face it, Donald Smith would never be charged for this. I mean this particular fact set and timelines, etc.
Now GA is a different story. For that he should be arrested, perp-walked, tried, convicted, and caged.

I would agree that Georgia is a much more serious case, and if in a court of law he is found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt then he should pay the appropriate penalty.
I don’t like Donald Trump. I think he’s a buffoon, a narcissist, and can be an embarrassment. He’s a liar and a cheat. And he was a surprisingly good President. He failed at the critical moment, IMO, but no moreso and maybe less than Hilary or Uncle Joe would have. But the constant attacks and the NY crap? No, that needs to be squashed and squashed hard.

I disagree. I think those that "serve" the public should be "special targets" in a sense, that the public has placed their trust in these people vs. a private citizen. As such, they should not be able to walk a tightrope where the law is concerned. They should be subjected to stiffer punishments for breaching the public trust.

Nah, you don't care about the country.
See Jon's post. And Jon loathes Trump.

Show me the man and I'll show you the crime.
I suspect if the Justice Department decided to commit the resourcs to you, they have committed to Trump, you would be charged.
And you might even win. After the Feds bankrupted you and all of your family.

89th, here's more detail in answer to your earlier question: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/trump-arrested-news-updates-indictment-counts-new-york-rcna77595

@89th said in Trump says he expects to be arrested on Tuesday:
Thanks, he'll probably be found guilty but have a light, if not suspended, sentence of like 60 days in jail.
Not a chance. The misdemeanor is past the statute of limitations. The felony count can only be used if the records manipulation was used in the commission of another crime. As campaign finance violations are a Federal matter and cannot be prosecuted by the states, they can not prosecute on this. It goes nowhere. My guess? This will be eventually thrown out, but it will be dragged out and postponed and such for over 12-14 months. Just to tie up Trump resources while facing the other potential indictments.

Our best hope of not getting more Trump is to keep him boring. This isn’t helping.

Picture it. Trump is elected. The Secretary of State sends the following letter to the President of France: "We regret to inform you that we are unable to attend Monsieur le President's birthday party. The terms of Mr. Trump's parole forbid him from traveling beyond the borders of the United States. Have a good time at the party. Respectfully, Etc."
