Can anyone give me an objective (!) TLDR version of why Trump is being arrested?
From Forbes: "Bragg’s investigation centered around a $130,000 alleged hush money payment former Trump fixer Michael Cohen paid porn star Stormy Daniels in the final days of the 2016 presidential campaign to keep her from publicly discussing an affair she claimed to have had with Trump years earlier—which he has denied. Legal experts say prosecutors might argue reimbursement payments to Cohen for so-called legal services were a misdemeanor violation of falsifying business expenses, but they speculate Trump could also be charged with a felony under a largely untested legal theory identifying the payment to Daniels as an illegal campaign donation.

I stopped tracking Trump's
crimesshenanigans some years ago. I'd seen enough to justify my prediction during his campaign -- that I posted right here, in fact -- that if he gets elected, he will either be forced to resign or be arrested for something. At this point, events have proceeded far enough along that my prediction is justified.It's good to be right.
I've been briefly tempted to climb back aboard and follow all this Bragg snarl, but have managed to resist.
In any situation, there exists a set of facts. They may not be readily apparent, but they're there somewhere. In this age of Internet and social, the obfuscation on Trump is at its uttermost. It is no longer possible to discover the facts, no. The best you can do is join the realm of the Right Clusterfuck or the Left Clusterfuck, and pretend to know the real truth -- or you can own the truth that the facts are buried too deep in a Mariana Trench of confusion, half-assery and short-temperedness to be of any use, but that give you bellowing rights on the barstool.
This is especially tempting a course if you don't actually give a fuck about the country but only about the party, and if you ever were of the belief that your party was the best for the country, that tail has long since outgrown the dog.
Oh, and about Trump? Dig it: It doesn't matter what happens with the Bragg thing. If things don't proceed organically, Trump will find a way to embroil himself in another one of his many transgressions -- oops, I mean dastardly false accusations.

I would agree that Georgia is a much more serious case, and if in a court of law he is found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt then he should pay the appropriate penalty.
I don’t like Donald Trump. I think he’s a buffoon, a narcissist, and can be an embarrassment. He’s a liar and a cheat. And he was a surprisingly good President. He failed at the critical moment, IMO, but no moreso and maybe less than Hilary or Uncle Joe would have. But the constant attacks and the NY crap? No, that needs to be squashed and squashed hard.

I disagree. I think those that "serve" the public should be "special targets" in a sense, that the public has placed their trust in these people vs. a private citizen. As such, they should not be able to walk a tightrope where the law is concerned. They should be subjected to stiffer punishments for breaching the public trust.

I suspect if the Justice Department decided to commit the resourcs to you, they have committed to Trump, you would be charged.

Not a chance. The misdemeanor is past the statute of limitations. The felony count can only be used if the records manipulation was used in the commission of another crime. As campaign finance violations are a Federal matter and cannot be prosecuted by the states, they can not prosecute on this. It goes nowhere. My guess? This will be eventually thrown out, but it will be dragged out and postponed and such for over 12-14 months. Just to tie up Trump resources while facing the other potential indictments.

Picture it. Trump is elected. The Secretary of State sends the following letter to the President of France: "We regret to inform you that we are unable to attend Monsieur le President's birthday party. The terms of Mr. Trump's parole forbid him from traveling beyond the borders of the United States. Have a good time at the party. Respectfully, Etc."
