In some families you can take the keys to the Porsche away from the teenager and make him take his grandma's civic to the party, and that will be an effective punishment.

Motives that are in line with the will of the voters are not categorically bad, even if they lead to a politician adjusting discretionary relationships with a private company in an above-board way.
As a thought experiment, do you think an adjustment to government relations with a private company in CA which began openly advocating against abortion, or against gay marriage, would be wrong, in the same way you believe DeSantis was wrong?
