I don’t think she simply has different political views.

Attacking her clearly isn’t ok, but she’s a fucking nut job, not just part of the loyal opposition.

That doesn't make any difference, does it?

I think Biden is a senile twat. Maybe it's ok to slap him upside the head in his favorite ice cream parlor?

I couldn't have been any clearer. I said right there that attacking her clearly wasn't ok.

That doesn't mean that she isn't part of the problem. It's like Ann Coulter complaining about her hate mail and threats, when all she does is spew hatred herself. It's still not OK to send her hate mail or threaten her, but she's at least partially to blame for what she gets.

And yes, the same goes for Ilhan Omar or whoever you might choose to name on the left. It's not ok to threaten her, but she's part of the problem.

Don't you think that liberal insanity helps create the MTGs, though? The more antagonistic one side is, the more the other group is going to want anyone but that side running things. And when you push people enough, the more the crazies on the opposite side look appealing. When the game becomes bullshit, people want to flip the board over any way they can.

You'd obviously have crazies either way, but they'd have much less agency if the other side didn't fetishize condemnation. Liberals share some part of the blame for MTG in my opinion.

IOW, this is how you get more Trump…

And MTG and Trump are how you get more liberal insanity. The shit flows both ways.

No, it’s not quite that simple. This goes back well over 20 years. The shit has been escalating from the left for decades. The earliest I remember off the top of my head was Newt Gingrich having trouble getting service in the 90’s. Bush Jr. and his administration were called the worst war criminals since Hitler. When McCain became the head of the party, he was even worse! Romney? Dog endangering Hitler… So finally some of the shit starts to flow back the other way and NOW we’re concerned?

Fine, it's all the left's fault. Happy?

Now, how do you fix the current situation where Republican Presidents lie about election fraud, and his followers attack the Capitol Building?

I don't think Trump lied. I believe he thought there was election fraud. I believe he still thinks so. I do believe he was going to use every legal means possible to slow down or stop what he thought was a miscarriage of election law.

Part of the process was bringing political pressure to bear. Trump was happy for his supporters to protest at the Capitol. At no time did he urge them to violence. In fact, he specifically told them to protest peacefully.

I have never heard Trump or any pol on the right, advocate getting in people's faces at dinner, at church or in public places. I've never seen them try to organize regular citizens to harass other citizens in their normal life. If you know of any cases, please let me know.

Did Trump's administration think there might be some trouble on January 6? I think possibly so. If not, they wouldn't have offered troops to Pelosi.

If you're going to make the argument both sides are equally bad, you need to provide some proof.

Clearly it's impossible to prove that. And I didn't say that both sides were equally bad. I said that both sides share the blame.

In terms of doxing people, and abusing people in the street, I think the left is worse. In terms of deluding themselves about election fraud, I think the right is worse.

But it really shouldn't be a competition.

    I was only joking

The most surprising part of the story is she eats in a restaurant instead of slurping from a trough outside.

I think you’re making his point again - Clinton was accused of killing Vince Foster and Ron Brown, as well as myriad other crimes. And that’s leaving the real nutter stuff aside (“pizzagate”)

        Only non-witches get due process.

The difference is in how the normative masses feel, not how fringe nutters feel. The lefist masses are religious, a religion mostly having to do with the oppressed person narratives. Then, the anti-Trump religion nailed the coffins of their ability to reason with regard to politics. Now they are policy nihilists, except when they think a leftist policy is good, which is rare even for a leftist. Their opinions are rooted in religious support of the oppressed, or religious existential threat avoidance for any given hand waved existential threat, such as climate or coups.

          Education is extremely important.

I've pretty much given up pointing this out. It's clearly become a core belief for some that all of the problems we face today are because of the left.

I trace all the nastiness back to Lee Atwater, the political tactician who maintained “perception is reality”.

                  “perception is reality”.

God, the number of times I've heard that at work, generally related to some bizarrely stupid claim from upper management.

It’s unfortunately true. How else do you understand that black people spend considerable emotional energy worrying that they’ll be murdered by police officers? All of that stress is the psychological black tax imposed on them by progressive white females.

I'd give a solid nickel to have Atwater back. Lee was the first Republican to fight fire with fire, and he was good at it.

Which brings us to back to what we are currently talking about...Without Bork, I don't know if you get Atwater in the Bush 41 campaign. Or at least not the meanest version.

                        It's very true.

Interesting line from the movie The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance..."When reality becomes the legend, print the legend".

So perception is reality is certainly not a new concept.
