Speaking of musical geniuses, wasn't Zappa one? I worked at a bakery once where one of the bakers considered himself to be the best musician in Madison. He played bass guitar. His hero was Frank Zappa.

Zappa was absolutely amazing. But he was also an iconoclast to the core, so not everything he did is great. A lot of it's just stupid.

The amazing thing about "Dangerous Kitchen," though, is that Steve Vai played the guitar. The vocals were recorded, and then Vai worked for several days to learn, then play the guitar notes over it. Vai said it was one of the hardest things he ever did.

Nah, but you'd do better to sit her down in front of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

      Now, that's high quality entertainment!

Oh, don't worry. That is absolutely happening.

Holy grail was a nearly religious experience for me when I saw it. I thought I was going to hurt myself from laughing so hard, I couldn't even control it.

I need to revisit Monty Python. I was always hot and cold with their material -- mostly indifferent. I think I may not have known how to appreciate it.

What made me laugh was the Bring Out Your Dead skit.

          "I'm not dead!" WHAP!

          LOL.

I still remember the awkward moment with a highly inquisitive 8 year old watching that movie when they got to the 'After the spanking, the oral sex!' scene.

            I was only joking

I remember exactly that. I was young enough to think that meant talking about sex.

It was vaguely embarrassing with my son - with my daughter, horrendous

I’ll top you for a bad dad moment…

Karla and I had a ….disagreement the other day… I may or may not have something to the effect of “will you quit yapping and listen for a minute?”

This morning, Karla was disciplining Finley and he yelled “WILL YOU QUIT YAPPING AND LISTEN FOR A MINUTE?”

I’m not sure if I’m in more trouble for saying it in the first place, or busting out laughing when he said it…

I was driving with my toddler in the back seat in the UK, and pretty much forgot he was there. I was waiting at a roundabout, and things were taking a lot longer than they should have - anyway, I may have said a few things.

2 minutes later, I heard this little voice from the back of the car say "For fuck's sake, will you fucking move!" in that way that children talk when they don't fully understand what they're repeating. Then in a rather sad voice, "That was very loud daddy. You shouted."

                    I was only joking
