Long article on how socially contagious Tourette's affectations are receding among the young. An interesting data point is that it was 87% females doing it.

Literally in paragraph 50, they get to the gender connection. Like half or so of these folks identify as transgender of some sort.

But instead of making the obvious connection that people who are subject to social contagion might manifest it in multiple ways, the angle they play is about potential metal health issues among transgender folks. Even that, of course, requires careful tiptoeing and proper inferences about where the blame would lie.

At a conference on tic disorders last summer in Lausanne, Switzerland, doctors from several countries shared another observation: A surprising percentage of their patients with the TikTok tics identified as transgender or nonbinary. But without hard data in hand, multiple attendees said, the doctors worried about publicly linking transgender identity and mental illness.

Just as being attracted to the same sex I think is quite arguably a sexuality disorder, being transgender (thinking you're the opposite sex) I think is pretty clearly a mental issue of some sort. Not saying it to be mean, but just go back 10 or 20 years ago and try to think of things without the pressure of being woke or not offending someone for a behavioral observation.

Prior to the wokes infiltrating psychology, the literature was pretty clear that almost everyone in the growing transgender camp was influenced more by social motivation than anything particular to themselves. But not absolutely everyone. There are still a few in a million out there who aren't full of shit. They're the ones who never want to talk about this stuff but never regret their decisions, either.

        Please love yourself.

It was an oficial disorder way back in the dark times of the second Obama administration - “Gender Identity Disorder”. They changed it to “Gender Dysphoria” in the last 10 years.

Thank goodness our culture now so vociferously encourages vulnerable teens to identify as LGBTQ and enjoy all the mental health benefits that brings.
