Well, the chats are private and persistent.

The only difference to PMs is that you can, as far as I can see, only have one chat with each person or groups of persons.

@LuFins-Dad you can set that if you go to the top right. There should be a box with an up and don arrow. You can set it to newest or oldest order, most posts or most votes.
