Black history trivia. Did you know Tiger Woods is 50% Thai, 40% black, and 10% white? That’s right, he’s an Asian golfer but not usually thought of as such. And with other half-white folks like Obama or Mahomes… and Kamala who’s our first Asian VP (half Asian, half Caribbean)…

This post was made at 1230am after dealing with the 2 year old puking in their bed. Fun times.

That's why God gave children to young people, not old people.

I’m sorry, but the bulk of black history, at least in the past 400 years, has been oppression by white supremacists such as yourself. Shame on you for being happy about that.

I think this is my favorite history month of all!

I always learn so much about my own, almost equal, race.

I can’t wait to see what I learn next!

Black History Month is an annual observance in the United States and Canada in which the history, contributions, and culture of African Americans are recognized and celebrated. It is held during the month of February in the United States and in Canada, it is recognized during February or October. The celebration of Black History Month has its roots in 1926, when historian Carter G. Woodson created "Negro History Week." It was later expanded to a month-long celebration in 1976. The purpose of Black History Month is to educate and inform the public about the significant contributions of African Americans throughout history and to promote cultural understanding and diversity.

My dear friends, we gather here today to celebrate the rich and vibrant history of African Americans, a history that is deeply woven into the fabric of our nation. During this month, we pay tribute to the countless individuals who have fought, struggled, and sacrificed to bring us to where we are today.

As we reflect on the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., we are reminded of his words: "The time is always right to do what is right." This year, we celebrate Black History Month with renewed energy, a deep sense of purpose, and a commitment to ensuring that the next generation of African Americans is equipped to face the challenges of our time.

In the words of Dr. King, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." This month, let us raise our voices in celebration of the many African Americans who have made an indelible impact on our world. From the bravery of the enslaved Africans who fought for their freedom, to the pioneering spirit of the Harlem Renaissance, to the nonviolent resistance of the Civil Rights Movement, the story of African Americans is a story of resilience, determination, and triumph.

But as we celebrate, we must also acknowledge that the struggle for equality and justice is far from over. In too many places, African Americans continue to face systemic discrimination and unjust treatment. We must recommit ourselves to the work of dismantling these systems and building a world in which every person, regardless of race or background, has the opportunity to thrive.

Dr. King once said, "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice." Let us bend that arc towards justice by working together to create a world in which every person is valued and respected, a world in which every voice is heard and every life is given the dignity and respect it deserves.

So today, let us celebrate Black History Month not just as a commemoration of the past, but as a call to action for the future. Let us work together to build a world in which all people are free to reach their full potential and to live lives of peace, prosperity, and dignity.

Thank you, and may God bless us all.

I wasn’t aware that was being observed here in any special way during any particular month of the year. But then, I really don’t frequent progressive venues or events.

In any case I have to agree with Morgan Freeman on the question of Black history month or any designated racial or ethnic day or month. It’s ridiculous.

Happy Black History Month, Day 2, everybody!

I slightly overcooked some chicken schnitzel for dinner. Some of it looked a bit black-ish.

It was my little way of celebrating.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
