And to prepare for war, his memo reads in part: “fire a clip into a 7-meter target with the full understanding that unrepentant lethality matters most. Aim for the head.”

I could see it. Although hard to imagine it’ll be a conventional war. Too much to lose on both sides.

That's never stopped any previous war basically ever.

@Aqua-Letifer I don’t know, I feel like economic ramifications have helped keep many major wars at bay for the last 50 years

Russia completely tanked its economy to start and then continue a war it isn't winning against a much smaller nation that posed no threat. I don't think economic ramifications matter at all.

Japan knew they were screwed even before they bombed Pearl Harbor. Their hope was that the U.S., not being really known as wanting to be a colonial power, would just let them have the Far East
When the U.S. didn't, they knew it was only a matter of time until they were economically devastated.
There is a very good story on YouTube right now, War Factories. There are three seasons (posted so far) with five or six episodes each season. It's interesting in that almost all modern wars are wars of attrition, with the side that can produce the most wins.
A sample....

I think it’s a great idea for Xi to see us preparing for it. My sense is he is committed, at least in his mind, to what he sees as reunification.

Well, Russia is certainly helping to pay for it.

In the case of Russia and Ukraine? Sure. But it’s hard to prove a “how many wars didn’t happen” point by the very nature of the claim, I know.

I do not think that China will try and invade Taiwan. If it happens, I think it will be a "blockade" to try and drive Taiwan down that way.
Hopefully, China is paying attention to what is happening to Russia and their economy. I think it would be much more worse for China economically, especially if the West countries respond in the same way as they did for Ukraine.
