That office could have been staged anywhere or he was photoshopped into an existing photo. In any case it’s a harmless selfie that could have been staged and taken anytime. Proves nothing.
The poor lumpenproletariat yob was definitely set up.
No, it's not that, it's that his crimes are trivial because he's on our side.
If that’s the face of an important historical coup, then we need an open and honest dialogue about what important historical coups actually are.
I didn't mention the word "coup," you did. And I find the idea of giving this motherfucker a pass hilarious.

What pass is anybody wanting to give him? I introduced the word coup, yes, and if you disagree with that framing, then we agree on that part of it.

I think it's pretty damn obvious some of the folks who went in were absolutely down for that. But no, I don't think that's a fair representation of everyone who was involved with what happened.
And all I keep hearing is how this is one giant nothingburger, that forcefully entering the Capitol wasn't a big deal or anything, and the evacuations and suspension of an official vote count was all a big elaborate liberal ruse to get you to vilify jaywalkers.
It can be two things. It can be both dangerously trumped up nonsense at the collective level and a big damn deal at the level of the individual.

It wasn't a coup, it was a riot.
If anybody was attempting a coup, it was the guy who encouraged these morons, not the morons themselves. And I think he came pretty close, he just didn't have anybody who mattered supporting him.

Great so it seems the framing of the event as a legit coup attempt, a framing which will be enshrined in textbooks fed to kids in perpetuity going forward, is wrong. But let's make sure the important point here, is that these indoctrinated doofuses with no critical thinking skills and a taste for mosh pits, are treated in the most extraordinary manner possible. For great justice.
-
I hate to make this comparison - because Nazis - and don't even really know what my point is with it. But, didn't the Nazi's have a comically bad attempted coup in the 1920s?

How does that description not apply to this particular asshole being discussed here?

They should have brought Georgie Dubya in and had him charge them with 'tourism'. He'd be in Guantanamo by now.

Here’s a thought experiment - imagine Antifa or BLM had stormed the Capitol to stop Trumps inauguration. Imagine every single other detail being identical, from cops getting beaten and crushed on video to one enterprising thuggette trying to breech the area where the representatives were hiding and ending up with lead poisoning, to the stupidest of clownish selfies.
Further imagine all arrests and detentions and pleas and prosecutions took place as they have.
Who here thinks Jolly would have concerns about ‘Kangaroo Courts’ in this alternative universe?

Totally what I’ve been saying to Larry and others when they said I was biased because of not liking Trump.

I am a patriot, you are biased, he is a traitor.
I remember when people suggesting that the Iraq war might not be great idea were branded traitors. When Trump said it 15 years later, he was a freaking genius.

Here's not a thought experiment...When Antifa rioted around the Whitehouse and the President and his family had to shelter in a bunker, remind me once again how many people were arrested and charged, how many protesters languished in jail for months without hearings or trial and how many did any serious jail time.
Shucks, did any do more than 30 days in jail?
And I mentioned a single instance. Look at what else happened during that Summer of Love. The arson. The Lootings. Death in the street.
How many people did any serious jail time for any of that? How many were denied hearings or trials for months? How many were denied bail for trespassing charges?
And how was all this violence portrayed in the media? On one hand, we have angry citizens engaging in mostly peaceful protests...Never mind many are masked, have used the internet to network for violence, are carrying firearms and other weapons, and are burning buildings, looting and killing people in the streets. OTOH, we have a dumbass with his feet propped up on Pelosi's desk and a painted idiot wandering the halls of the Capitol wearing a shaman's headress, and the existence of the whole country is at peril, requiring armed troops with chambered live rounds to protect the peaceful streets of Washington.
No, we had extreme tolerance vs. no tolerance. We had two different media perceptions for similar acts. We had little or no justice on one hand, and vengeance masquerading as justice on another. We had an absolute political dog and pony in one of the most supposedly deliberative bodies in the world, where almost half the body was not represented, in order to assure information, evidence and outcomes were all set in stone before the hearings were gaveled into existence.
It was a travesty and miscarriage of justice the American people should hang their collective heads over, in disgust and shame.
How stands the Union, Mr. Webster? I think he would say not worth a damn. To treat citizens differently in our Justice System, simply because of political whim, crumbles the very mortar of our Union, making a mockery of the Constitution.
Y'all can stop the even-handed bullshit right now, because it's going over like a lead balloon. There has been none.

Did you make that up? When did that happen? Was the White House physically breached by Antifa in that purported incident?

MORE than 50 Secret Service agents have been injured during ugly clashes outside the White House on a sixth night of violence sparked by the death of George Floyd.
The attacks came after President Trump was reportedly moved to a secure bunker usually used during terror attacks as heated protests escalated across Washington D.C.
Agents rushed Trump to the state-of-the-art Presidential Emergency Operations Center as they were concerned for his safety, the New York Times reported.
