In the Portland thread, I commented that it’s one of a handful of prominent US cities I’ve not been to.

That got me curious, so I looked up the top 25 US cities to see how many I’ve not been to. (Portland is actually 26)

I’m missing Phoenix, Sandy Eggo. El Paso, and Memphis.

How about you? Airport layovers and drive-throughs don’t count. You have to at least stopped for lunch or whatever.

City size rank; City; Population est. 2015
    1 New York 8,550,405
    2 Los Angeles 3,971,883
    3 Chicago 2,720,546
    4 Houston 2,296,224
    5 Philadelphia 1,567,442
    6 Phoenix 1,563,025
    7 San Antonio 1,469,845
    8 San Diego 1,394,928
    9 Dallas 1,300,092
    10 San Jose 1,026,908
    11 Austin 931,830
    12 Jacksonville 868,031
    13 San Francisco 864,816
    14 Indianapolis 853,173
    15 Columbus 850,106
    16 Fort Worth 833,319
    17 Charlotte 827,097
    18 Seattle 684,451
    19 Denver 682,545
    20 El Paso 681,124
    21 Detroit 677,116
    22 Washington 672,228
    23 Boston 667,137
    24 Memphis 655,770
    25 Nashville 654,610

      1. Missed El Paso and Seattle. Only one of those is on my list of musts. You guess which one.

Yeah I figured I’d get to three of my missing 4, San Diego perhaps this spring.

        The 4th being El Paso.

But I’ve never actually been to a border town. Maybe it would be interesting to see.

I'm ashamed, only 9 (plus Portland).

If you expand the list, however, it grows to about 12 -13 (Madison, New Orleans, Milwaukee, St. Paul...)

                1. I'm even worse.

I travel plenty I think—just not usually to the largest cities.

                Please love yourself.

Used to be some custom boot shops down in El Paso. Nothing like a pair of bespoke boots.

OTOH, it's been so long since I've been there, they've probably moved the city.

Makes you appreciate the population of cities like Tokyo with nearly 40 million.

I think Metro Area Population would be a better comparison. Take Columbus, for instance. It ranks #15 on your list, well ahead of even Washington, DC, but it’s only the 3rd largest metro area in it’s state, behind Cleveland and Cincinnati…

                        Here’s the top 30 Metros
