Horror stories? I just saw people comment on the different economic factors that make Norway a difficult model to compare with.

Singapore also. But they have a COE (Certificate of Entitlement). That is a certificate to allow you to buy a car. Started a long time ago to limit the number of cars available because it is a small island.
The COE has to be renewed every 10 years (I believe). At that point, almost every people buy a new car, as it doesn't make sense to buy many thousand of dollars on a 10 year old car.
