I think sometimes they hide important and/or profound messages by only capitalizing them.
Maybe just a fad. 1337 speak was cool once.
It is an embedded morse code message

No it wasn't. It was just annoying.
I'm thinking it's a thing you have to download to do, and it does the alternating for you. I can't imagine most people would stand still for having to peck it out letter by letter.
