Anyone make any resolutions?
-
I didn’t make a New Years resolution per se, but a few weeks back I decided I wanted to more proactively manage my time in order to get more done. When you’re semi-retired it’s easy to let days slip by where little gets done. I want to try to structure my days so that every day I spend a decent amount of time at the gym, get some work done, practice piano, and spend at least an hour learning something in a formal, structured way (right now it’s it’s an online program in Biostatistics at Johns Hopkins).
This was inspired by a guest on Sam Harris’ podcast who talked about time management in a way that intrigued me. So far it’s been working.

The things he talked about weren’t all that novel necessarily but just a kick in the pants to do them. He talked about short term vs long term time management, and I realized the latter is something that would really help with my board role - for example, mapping out in advance what things you should be working on in which months.

I've resolved to not be an asshole.
So far, so good, but nobody else is awake yet, so my monologue has remained internal.
Actually, my resolution is to spend a lot more time doing musical things, and a lot less doing stupid pointless stuff that I'm no good at and won't get me anywhere (other than music).

Yet, here you are....
Indeed. And what's more, breaking both resolutions!

New Year’s resolution is to either cut out drinking or at least cut our drinking when alone. My sleep/health would benefit from avoiding booze (and snacks!) before bed.
For retirement? That’s in 17 years (age 57 I hope) and will be filled with golf and travel.
