BTW, her real family nickname was "Sid". Charisse was her married name by her first husband.

The studio changed the spelling of her nickname, so Cyd Charisse was closer to her real name than many people think...

There was a famous Hollywood producer that said Charisse could barely say her lines phonetically, but when she wrapped one of those legs around you during a dance number, it didn't matter whether she could act or not.
