Hollywood Legs Trivia

"I was smoking four packs of cigarettes a day then, and getting up those walls was murder," O'Connor said while reflecting upon the scene and its staggering effect upon him. "They had to bank one wall so I could make it up and then through another wall. We filmed that whole sequence in one day. My body just had to absorb this tremendous shock. I came back on the set three days later." The actor's lungs were hardly suited for the endurance that "Make 'Em Laugh" required. He somehow managed to pull it off, though not without a degree of minor consequence (per IMDb).

Maybe the lady who was in "Singing in the Rain"? (Fun movie by the way).
I thought that the Cosmo character was also a good dancer (in a different way) and quite funny.

She was in that movie.
But who was she?

Interesting how she's not frequently considered in the context that Jolly mentioned.
And yeah, known for her OUTSTANDING gams!
However, I remember reading (seeing?) a story about how Gene Kelly was considered one of the most "athletic" dancer of his day. Astaire oozed style, and Kelly oozed muscle.
And Fosse oozed...

No guess as to the movie in which Tula Ellice Finklea appeared, but since @Jolly mentioned gams...
She was featured in the 2001 Guinness Book of World Records under "Most Valuable Legs", because a $5 million insurance policy was reportedly issued on her legs in 1952..
And yeah, she was in "Singin' in the Rain."

BTW, her real family nickname was "Sid". Charisse was her married name by her first husband.
The studio changed the spelling of her nickname, so Cyd Charisse was closer to her real name than many people think...

Link to videoThere was a famous Hollywood producer that said Charisse could barely say her lines phonetically, but when she wrapped one of those legs around you during a dance number, it didn't matter whether she could act or not.
