Can you imagine being in the room with Trump when he's shown that front page? "Florida man," LOL.

Even Jeb Bush called the announcement "low energy."

@Jolly Didn't realize how flexible you are bending over backwards... just imagine for a second, try to, that the President not accepting his loss was Obama and the crowd was a bunch of libs, and they broke into the capitol by smashing their way in, fighting police, and looking to capture Boehner. I'd have the same reaction I do now, would you?

No, I do try to be fair.

You've swallowed the MSM line hook and sinker. Once you do that, you're like any other caught fish. It's just a matter of how they play you, until they land you in the boat.

          Donors bail:

Stephen Schwarzman — chairman, CEO and co-founder of private-equity giant Blackstone — says in a statement to Axios that he's defecting from former President Trump for the 2024 presidential race.

Driving the news: "America does better when its leaders are rooted in today and tomorrow, not today and yesterday," Schwarzman says.

"It is time for the Republican Party to turn to a new generation of leaders and I intend to support one of them in the presidential primaries."
Why it matters: This is a major defection by a GOP megadonor who was close to Trump — very engaged with him on trade issues — and had real pull in the Trump White House.

The big picture: It's the second GOP megadonor to come out against Trump in two weeks.

Ken Griffin — the billionaire founder of the Citadel hedge fund, who had praised Trump policies — endorsed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis last week.
Griffin, who moved Citadel's headquarters to Miami this year, told Bloomberg yesterday that Trump is a "three-time loser."
Between the lines: Two of the country's largest and most influential Republican donors are looking for a next-generation candidate.

Trump doesn't need the money. But the statements by Schwarzman and Griffin are likely to give cover and backbone to some Republican elected officials to move on.

I think he's got $100M in his campaign warchest, so he doesn't need the big donors, as much as he needs the continued support of the small donors.

                                        And NPR repeats the lie:

" he inflamed racial tensions like when he said there were "very fine people" on both sides of a white nationalist protest in Charlottesville, Va., where a counter-protester was killed"

"Now look here, you Baltic gas passer... " - Mik, 6/14/08

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Honestly, I have no problem with the headlines. Americans should never forget a President's refusal to accept an election loss. Never.

That being said, you are right about the NPR write-up, specifically this paragraph.

The foundation of Trump's 2016 candidacy and ensuing presidency was nativism — he campaigned on building a wall to keep Spanish-speaking immigrants out of the United States; in his early days in office, he banned people from some mostly Muslim countries from coming to the country; he inflamed racial tensions like when he said there were "very fine people" on both sides of a white nationalist protest in Charlottesville, Va., where a counter-protester was killed; and he regularly exaggerated dangers to trigger anger and fear in many Americans.

First, it's written like, by a 7th grader, like, totally, like ya know? Second, while I certainly disagreed with Trump on a number of topics (election denial, handling COVID early on, 3rd grade insults) the items listed above are very much inaccurate. I had no problem with his effort to secure the border in regards to illegal immigration, ban certain countries from sending people to the US (presuming there is a valid national security reason), and indeed there were many fine people on both sides of the Charlottesville event. Then again, as a native Virginian, I have more respect for Robert E Lee than probably most of the country.
