    Don't like your transgendered doc?

I honestly couldn’t give a shit. If he, she or they do a good job, I really don’t care what else they do in their spare time, or for that matter what religion or race they belong to.

      YMMV

      I was only joking

Imagine the number of people who would agree with that regarding lgbtqx doctors, but who would refuse to see trump supporting doctor. There would be millions of Americans who would self identify as being in that group.

          1. Offensive comments about others’ race, accent, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or other personal traits

          2. Refusal to see a clinician or other staff member based on these personal traits

          3. Physical or verbal threats and assaults

          4. Sexual or vulgar words or actions

          5. Disrupting another patient’s care or experience

I mean, totally agree. Except number 2. For example, if it is ok to claim to be the other gender, is it also ok to claim to be part of another race? Facts matter, as does comfort with the mental state of your health care provider.

They could've just omitted Rule 2. If a patient wants to switch health care providers for ANY reason, that should be fine.

I agree. I don't care, but do not want my doctor trying to impose his (non medical) beliefs on me)

You have the right to hire and fire your doctor at will. Maybe it's because you don't care for the way he/she/it parts his/her/its hair.

I worked in a government hospital. Even that entity tried to accommodate patient's wishes as much as possible.

If you want to switch providers you just do it, make your next appointment with someone else. There’s really no point at which you need to state a reason.

Ok, maybe you’re an inpatient and you don’t like one of them, the shift ends soon enough.

Exactly. I was referred to an internist whom I saw about 2 years ago. He was fine, but we just didn't "click." He seemed disinterested and his demeanor was perfunctory. I thought it was me, but Mrs. George saw him as well and thought the same thing. We had no trouble finding a different doc and never saw #1 again. No harm, no foul. I doubt that he even found out that we switched.

Maybe, if they're doing shift work, like a hospitalist. But, if you're under the care of a surgeon, the "shift" might be days.
