Do you know how many times I’ve accidentally set off the panic alarm when I’ve sat down?

Give me a key for emergencies and connect the Fob’s RF frequencies up to an app on my phone.

I've never done that in a year of having a fob. Admittedly, I move like a dancer, so that kind of gross error is a lot less likely.

When your wife loses FOBs for both cars, and you pay hundreds for new FOBs, your thinking may be influenced.

If you put your fob in the trunk and close it, the trunk pops back open automatically because it knows the fob is in there. Pretty cool.

I like the fob, very much. I just leave my keys in my pocket and am able to unlock, start, stop, and lock the car (just by walking away). It does have a physical key hidden inside, but I have never had to use it in the 7 years I've had a "fob key". (I drive Hondas, btw)

Oh it's also nice that the car knows whether I have my fob, or my wife has hers, and the seat adjusts automatically based on who is driving. Again, I drive Hondas (Accord, CRV, soon an Odyssey). Nothing overly fancy.

Love the fob, but my Mazda has buttons on the side rather than the flat front surface and I hit them accidentally more than I’d like. Sometimes the panic button, sometimes opening the rear hatch at inconvenient times (like when there’s a bike and a rack on back.

It’s impossible to lock in the car and it beeps of you try

Well, everything breaks, but cars manufactured with new technology and also incorporating new technology are way, way more reliable than they were back in the day.

It is why I try to keep tech to a minimum on vehicle purchases and tend to stick to proven drivetrains.
