All these votes were cast by (mostly) people who had never seen the candidate other than in press-gaggles and carefully-edited photo/video opportunities.

To ban or severely restrict early voting?

The best way to ensure a lack of buyers remorse would be to delay voting until the candidate has completed their term.

But yeah, the concept of mass early voting is a bit of a weird one.

        Is that not election fraud?

Seems to me like the selection process could do with a bit of an overhaul.

However, shouting 'fraud' every time something awkward happens is pretty much crying wolf, and may lead to similar consequences.

I think shouting FRAUD! may be the only way to generate enough bipartisan anger to actually change the rigged system.

I agree that if we start from an assumption that what election fraud can occur, will occur, it would help our public conversation start from a place grounded in reality.

              Education is extremely important.

Just curious, in summary, how is the system rigged? When did the rigging start?

I'm going to vote early tomorrow btw. Easy stop by my city's government center. It's the same thing as using an absentee ballot, except I will be a presentee. This makes it easier for me to vote than on election day and juggling toddlers at home.

I'd feel less cynical about the system being "rigged" if people who's side won ever complained.

Well, I don't see a single scenario where Donald Trump could have lost the election and not cried foul.

Why restrict it just to one election in your analysis.

OK, but nobody's forcing the cretins to vote early. It's their own stupid fault.

And really, the fact that people decide or re-decide who they want to lead the free world based on a 45 minute TV show is pretty sad.

But let's hope they learned their lesson.

No. People who vote early and then try to find a way to change their vote are cretins.
People are told to vote early or their votes may not arrive in time, and they better not vote in person or they MIGHT DIE! Or maybe not, but is it worth taking that risk? So they vote… Then a week later, the candidate that their union told them to vote for tells the entire nation that if he’s elected he is going to take away your job, but don’t worry, because you can learn to code… These people are the cretins? For being misled then wanting to correct it?

The #1 Google trend in PA in 2020 after the 2nd Presidential Debate was “How do I change my vote, early voting?”

OK, but nobody's forcing the cretins to vote early. It's their own stupid fault.

And really, the fact that people decide or re-decide who they want to lead the free world based on a 45 minute TV show is pretty sad.

People who vote early are cretins? Don't know as I would go quite that far.

I think even 150 years ago, there was "early voting" in the US.

For example, if the election was on November 1st, with the slow pace of news transfer, etc., people's last interaction with a candidate may have been from September.

People are voting based on that particular point in time. Probably evens out.

People vote for Candidate A a month early. In the next month, sometimes Candidate A looks much better, sometimes much worse. People who voted for him wish they hadn't. People who didn't vote for him wish they had.
