Too much coddling. Plain and simple.

Maybe we hear more about it as well. I shared a house with a guy who was hospitalized after spending a year with me (yes, I know the jokes write themselves) and then again 2 years later, but nobody except a couple of us knew about it

      I was only joking

The drinking age was 18 when I was a Freshman.

          Now it's 21.

Maybe these students aren't getting enough beer.

            All of the above?

I do recall how much harder college was than high school. Could skate by in high school and get near a 4.0, but first semester of college was a wake-up call, literally. I would skip my 8am classes often only to realize... you can't do that and expect to perform well in a course.

That’s true for every generation. How many classmates did you and @Aqua-Letifer have that flipped out and had to drop out for a semester?

I have no idea how many dropped out of my class of 1,500 in college. No one dropped out for a semester in medical school. But, to address your point, medical school was quite the shock: "Guess what! You're AVERAGE here!"

Well, there was Bob who dropped out permanently - he committed suicide.

A good 10% of my maths/physics class dropped out in the first year.

I distinctly remember thinking 'well, this is fucking hard'.

Did they drop the class or drop out of going to college? I’m talking about kids flipping out, having bizarre meltdowns, and being taken from the schools.

In my experience we’d drop a class. Some would drop out. Most would just drink a lot on Fridays and Saturdays and muddle through.

                      Elbows up!

Sorry, I didn’t mean class, it was a maths/physics degree, so that’s all we did. They dropped out of college. Not so much bizarre meltdowns as just dropping out, as far as I know

None that I recall. I vaguely recall a person or two in our dorm who didn't come back the Spring semester, but that's only if I really try to think of an example. @Aqua-Letifer lived across the hall from me Freshman year, do you recall any?
