It's more interesting if you play through the storm.

The rain from leftover Ian started here at about 7:00, with wind gusts in the 30s maybe just into the 40s.

We'll get 5-6 inches of rain over a day or 2. We really need every bit of it. We'll get some local flooding but mostly just a soaking with some wind.

I have a good friend who lives in fort Myers. Actually just inland of the city on a rural piece of property where I have visited many times.

The fucking eye passed right over his place. Lots of trees down and the roof ripped off his pole barn. But otherwise no physical injuries to him or household.

A mutual acquaintance with a gorgeous house on the Caloosahatchee river faired much more poorly. Water surge of 5 feet has left the house unapproachable.

They do that in Newfoundland. My uncle's house on Poole's Island is cabled down, anchored into the rock.

Yes, I've played several courses in the Naples, Marco Island area and they all seem to be just above sea level. I expect they will all be a mess today.

Thanks a lot, George... When I was a kid, I used to have a recurring nightmare where the house was flooding and there were alligators in the house. I would always wake up FEELING the gator's jaws clamping down and shattering my leg or arm (it varied) and the limb starting to be torn free. I mean, this dream happened often when I was 6-10 and still crops up occasionally today.

Want to guess who's going to have that dream again?
