Twitter roasts Biden White House for suggesting 'conversation' on renaming Atlanta Braves: 'Out of touch'
Karine Jean-Pierre discussed the MLB team name during Monday's press briefing
Twitter roasted White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre for suggesting that conservations about rebranding the Atlanta Braves are "important" to have.
"We believe that it's important to have this conversation, and Native American and indigenous voices, they should be at the center of this conversation," Jean-Pierre told Bloomberg News' Jennifer Jacobs during Monday's White House press briefing.
"That is something that the president believes, that is something this administration believes, and he has consistently emphasized all people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect," she added.
The comments coincided the team's visit to the White House to celebrate their 2021 World Series win over the Houston Astros and followed a question concerning the franchise's controversial "tomahawk chop" rallying cry performed during games.

He's in a tie right now, isn't he?

He was actually a point or two down on RCP and other poll aggregators. He caught up quite a bit with the college loan forgiveness issue, and this is an opportunity for him to put the seat away.
The pleasant surprise is Nevada. Nevada could save the collective Republican’s ass…

From an Atlanta news station:
"“I think the Braves organization is a long-lasting tradition. One of the oldest teams in baseball and you have to stick with tradition for America’s oldest sport,” Brave fan, Jake Miller, said.
"Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp echoed that same sentiment.
"Gov. Kemp responded to the White House on Twitter saying in part quote 'The Braves should always be the Atlanta Braves. Go Braves and Keep Choppin’!"

These cotton candy justice warrior issues nobody actually cares about are cultural losers for the Dems. At some point that will trickle up to Biden’s handlers and he’ll stop making these sorts of idiotic noises.
One might think trans issues are along those same lines, but they differ in that there are advocates who feel deeply about them, and who will emote for the masses to propagate their victim narratives. There is no such group of emoters about team names.

I may be wrong, but the Commanders could put out a press release at the end of the year that they were changing their name back to the Redskins and the majority of fans would probably welcome the change back to the old name.

I was thinking that if I ever bought the Redskins I would change the name back.

Yup. Growing up we always knew what Redskins meant, and everyone was fine with it. Many considered it an honoring of the Native American fighting bravery. Folks (including some friends of mine) who now refuse to use the term either only recently learned what it meant (doubtful) or have given into the pressure (likely). I guess some just stick with the new name, which is fair... but it does annoy me a bit people who suddenly "saw the light" a few years ago only once it became popular to criticize it.

They’ll always be the Redskins to me.
And the Colts will always be from Baltimore.
And Tampa and Seattle are the new teams. Tennessee and Jacksonville and Carolina don’t even have teams and the Houston team is the oilers.

Actually, the Oilers became the Titans… I’m surprised Houston fans didn’t push to get the Oilers name back from the Titans the same way Cleveland got back the Browns name from Baltimore.
