@89th Seriously - I rode the 1/10th of a mile from the finish line to the parking lot to make it a full 100.

That is awesome Jon!! A headwind like that can be brutally draining. You guys look like you had it with no problem! I think they like to put those uphills on the tailends on purpose lol. The Elephant Rock ride in Colorado always had a brutal hill right in the last mile.

              Congratulations.

I assume that is associated with the Falmouth Road Race. That used to be a great party, it has been a while since I have attended.

You circled the base that is holding the Martha's Vineyard mistreated political Venezuelan pawn heroes. Any sign of them?

My father is buried on that base.

Pretty sure it’s different. This is actually organized by the American Lung Association but they let us enter as a team and fundraise independently. It’s been going on for 26 years. Before covid it was Plymouth to P-town over three days. Now it’s a two day ride with the same start and finish.

My father is buried on that base.

Wow. How did that come to pass?

So Jon, do you think you'll have DOMS from hell? Or is it still too early to tell?

I don’t know, I actually had to Google that acronym.

I just walked 4mi and around mile 2.5 I could really feel my leg muscles.

Tomorrow I’ll get back on the bike and see how that feels.

                      @jon-nyc
                      We'll hope for the best.

                      Here's a good FAQ about DOMS: https://veloforte.com/blogs/fuel-better/should-you-be-exercising-with-doms

But this is the good stuff:

Six top tips to relieve DOMS

                      1. Painkillers, i.e. Ibuprofen; You might also find topical treatments such as Deep Heat and Tiger Balm provide some relief.

                      2. Ice pack, as ice helps combat muscle inflammation and can numb nerve endings to reduce pain. Ice is best used in the 48 hours after a workout as it won’t have much effect on older soreness.

                      3. Self-massage, foam rolling or gentle sports massage
Avoid deep tissue massage, however, particularly in the first 24 hours, as this can cause more pain and irritation to the muscles.

                      4. Compression clothing
Lots of athletes swear by compression clothing for recovery. It can increase blood flow to the muscles and help flush out toxins, which could reduce DOMS pain.

                      5. Hot baths -- promotes blood flow which helps sore muscles relax.

                      6. Contrast heat and cold treatments
Another treatment for DOMS is contrasting hot and cold. This can be achieved by applying an ice pack for 20 minutes followed by a heat pack for 20 minutes.

The brave might want to try contrast hydrotherapy – alternating between hot and freezing showers or baths.

There is a National Cemetery there. It seems like most of the WW II veterans I know end up there. That includes most of the parents of the guys I grew up with.

The Falmouth Road Race is a big deal in that part of the world. It was in August. I knew they had a Fall race too, I thought it happened in September, but I just checked it is November 6.
