No thanks.
Twitter is what you get when you allow an infinite amount of comments on 'news items'.
Give me the non-commented news sites any day.

If for no other reason than the source seems better to understand that their job is to present the news and not solicit their readers' opinion of it.

I suppose I'll get the story about this at some point but what will it be other than signing something with a gun pointed at your career?

I love Dave Chappelle.

He's brilliant but nowadays the narrative is his reality. He's as angry and righteous about white cops murdering black folk as anybody.

this will present an opportunity for Cowen and Caplan and anybody else in that department to take a principled stand against the mob. Let's see if they take it.

I’m not sure we would see it. They could only lobby the inquisitors.

I wonder if he'd get in trouble if he asked folks if they eat shepherd's pie and drink guinness for St Patricks Day? How dare he stereotype Irish Americans!

I hadn't seen that - I know it's not something anybody here seems to want to accept, and feel free to write me off as a brain-dead liberal as you see fit, but maybe, just maybe, he has a point? Maybe there is actually some truth to the narrative.
I honestly don't know. I'm not black. I've lived a very privileged life. I've never been pulled over because I'm driving a car that doesn't seem to fit my demographic. What I do know is that when I hung out with a bunch of Pakistani kids for a few years in the UK, they frequently had to endure all kinds of shit that I'd never come across.

what I know for a fact is that the narrative is created from viral video and not statistics. I also know that viral video is better at shaping one's concept of reality than statistics are.

I watched his 26-minute open-air thing in Ohio several times now. He's got his own narrative about this. He's on the "police brutality" side of the argument to be sure, but his arguments are his own. It'd be dishonest to label him as a mouthpiece.
His point about Chris Dorner and the importance about how that drama ended was well-considered.

This argument about the scourge of driving while black used to need one random second-hand anecdote to prove the case.
The anecdote is no longer required.

In England they've had these shows where a conservative spokesperson has to live on benefits for a month to prove how freaking easy it is, as the statistical analysis say that it's easily a living wage.
There are numerous examples of this not being nearly as easy as was thought. Apart from anything else, have you any idea how difficult it is to find smoked salmon and pate de foie gras at an affordable price?

Most of the conservative spokepeople think they have useful jobs. I know it's a fucking ridiculous idea, but apparently they believe it.

You haven't seen the spokespeople
Yes, obviously, the people should get jobs where possible, but it's not always that simple. During an economic downturn, for example, there isn't a miraculous increase in the number of lazy bastards.
