I love my sodastream. I drink probably about a liter of carbonated water per day. I have a couple of 500 ml bottles that are dishwasher-safe, and I always keep one in the refrigerator.

Anyhow, there was a company called "SodaSense" that provided mail-in replacements of your CO2 bottles. Although exchanging CO2 bottles was pretty easy at local stores (Kohls, Target) they were frequently out of stock, so I used the SodaSense system. They ship you two bottles. Presumably, you have a third when you bought the Sodastream. When you have two empties, put them in the provided box, and mail them - free shipping. In about a week, you get two fresh bottles. About $46 for two bottles that will last me at least a couple of months.

Now, Sodastream has gotten into the same program. Looks like it might be a bit cheaper.

Why carbonated water? Any particular reason other than personal preference?

It's like speakers pianos bicycle parts - personal preference. I find it more refreshing than flat water.

        I like the bubbly.

@George-K We’re now loving Fresca (the old zero sugar, grapefruit citrus soda drink from when we were kids).

And putting it in Pomelo cocktails, mixing with tequila, or with gin and lime juice, or with gin and Campari as a Negroni variant.

Fresca is good. I don't buy it often but did go through a phase a few years ago where it was my go-to. Lately I really enjoy Spindrift, especially the pineapple...very refreshing in the summer.

That being said, my dentist told me last time that carbonated water drinks like LaCroix, Spindrift, etc.... are not "the same as water" for your teeth, and to avoid drinking them too much.

@89th the CO2 In those drinks dissolved in water making it acidic. That’s why The dentist said that.

                  Just placed my first order.

Looks like 2 bottles is about $7 cheaper than SodaSense. Program looks exactly the same - send in two empties, get two refills back. Repeat as necessary.

this is pretty much the only non alcoholic beverage we have in the house. really nothing else crosses the door.

I never understood the appeal of bottled unflavored, flat water. Other than Penn and Teller, has anyone done a blind taste-test of bottled waters?

@George-K I’ve been to restaurants with a bottled water menu. Go figure.

I love cold soda water. I drink almost no alcohol anymore (migraine issues, and it is sometimes a trigger) so my favorite beverages a dinner are either soda water or NA beer.
