What kind of snakes do you get in that area?

On the shores of Cypress Creek, this is basically a swamp. We have just about any snake you might like in VA.
Most are good citizens but we do have copperheads and a few rattlers. Copperheads are fairly common in the swamp, but not in the neighborhood.
I’m guessing some kind of black snake here to eat voles or skinks maybe worms.

I'm sure Jolly knows more but I think copperheads (heh, copper) and rattlesnakes don't really burrow but instead find logs/rocks to set up camp. I'd guess it's a mud snake or worm snake... not really sure which ones burrow so clearly like that, though. Got a trail cam?

My neighbor Joe came over to look at the burrow. He thinks it was done by a vole, not a snake. I agree with him.
So I put a chunk of vole poison in the sand as a welcome home gift for the digger.
Watch the possum come and scoop the dinner at 1:30 this morning. I can't find any leftover poison, I assume he ate it.
