Saw a WaPo article on this. The folks at Social Security Administration ran some numbers and compiled a list of most-changed baby names, names changed from, and names changed too.

Try making on what the most frequent justification for name changes it, and what the most frequent names “changed from” and names “changed to”.

    click to show

    Simple spelling mistakes, e.g.,
    Issac —> Isaac
    Chole —> Chloe
    Conner —> Connor

… then you get to intentional name changes not due to simple spelling errors.

@Axtremus said in Baby name changes …:

        Chole

        That's OR-speak for a gallbladder.

Could be worse I suppose. "Placenta" comes to mind.

"Now look here, you Baltic gas passer... " - Mik, 6/14/08

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

This reminds me that Oprah got her name because of a typo and was meant to be named Orpah. True story.

Not sure why you call them baby names. Is the list for name changes in general, or baby name changes, whatever that means?

              Education is extremely important.
