Policitcs in the US is like a pendulum, even in the Democrat and Republic parties.

Democrats go too far to the left - people vote republican and the deomcrats realize their mistake and move closert to the center for a while.

Republicans go too far to the right - people vote Democrat and the republicans realize their mistake and move closer to the center for a while.

Both parties eventually forget that and the pendulum swings too far again and the cycle repeats.

True, but are the Trump policies too far right?

@Jolly Good question. I think so, but not really sure.

I will ask you this. How do you think President Trumps policies are vs. previous Republican presidents? I think you have a pretty good historical mind and would have a good idea

To the left or right of:

          Bush jr.?
          Bush sr.?
          Reagan?
          Ford?
          Nixon?
          Eisenhower?
          etc

If you believe that he is to the right of them all, then yes, probably President Trump is too far right.

@Jolly I dont know enough about the older Republicans, but my initial thought would be

Bush Jr - Trump to the right
Bush sr. - Trump to the right
Reagan - Trump to the right
Ford - Trump to the right
Nixon - ?? right on some things, left on others, probably slightly to the right overall
              Eisenhower - ?? No idea
Hoover (is the next?) - dont know. Would have to study

If you have a certain destination in mind, whether you travel left or right to get there, depends on where you start. I think Reagan and Trump had different starting points. It doesn't necessarily indicate a different destination.

Somehow that aspect gets lost or conveniently excused in the squelch surrounding Trump’s self promoted greatness.
