Mar-a-Lago raided

Sorry George.
I was trying to be of humour.
All of my tools are rusty.Actually, I'm pretty sure the big D has always had his household help refer to him with that respectful title of which I will not again repeat.
So, nothing new, just something else to master. -

I would suggest that Trump’s trouble finding lawyers is 1) he has a reputation for not following their advice then blaming them when things go south and; 2) he is notorious for refusing to pay his bills.
One of the serious attorneys on his team demanded and received a $3MM retainer.

Wouldn't you?
Absolutely. The amount is impressive. That’s a lot of legal services, even at these guy’s rates. Obviously he’s baked in an indictment and trial.

For a sense of perspective, though, the Johnny Depp v Amber Heard defamation trial which lasted 6 weeks, and discovery took years, cost between $6 and $8 million.

Whatever. It’s not Trump’s money, some donors paid for it through some PAC.
Let me know where to send the check.
It’s the “Save America PAC” :

It’s like the little old ladies on social security sending $5 to Joel Osteen

Special Master wants proof that Trump declassified the documents in question.
Trump attorneys had told the judge in a letter Monday night they didn't want to disclose that information yet because it could force them to prematurely "disclose a defense to the merits of any subsequent indictment. "Dearie (the SM) said, "You can't have your cake and eat it too."

Spending by Donald Trump's Save America PAC surged in August to more than $6.3 million -- its highest monthly total of the year -- as the former President waged court battles over the FBI's search of his waterfront Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
More than $3.8 million of that money -- or more than $6 out of $10 spent by Trump's leadership PAC last month -- went to legal fees, according to filings Tuesday night with the Federal Election Commission. The largest legal expense was a single payment of $3 million to the trust account of a West Palm Beach, Florida, law firm.

What an idiot. Why didn’t he just turn over the documents when asked? Or even subpoenaed?

Yes, I agree. I am trying to think reasonably, and having trouble coming up with a reason why he would not do it, other than him having a "god complex" and thinks he is above everybody else.

The story! The story!
He's doing the same thing he did in 2015. He knew he was not a big known, so he made his own publicity, threw his stunts to capture press attention. He didn't give a crap about John McCain, but you couldn't put a price on the outrage factor when he ridiculed his POW history. He did that enough until he had his audience, and then he milked it with messages they wanted to hear.
He isn't a master salesman for nothing.
Has anyone in the media speculated (or showed that they knew) why Trump took the documents in the first place?
-
@Catseye3 Hard to even speculate without knowing the contents of the docs.

A bunch of FBI agents do.
