It could be interesting if the strip displays control features or operates as a second monitor. That's not really what they show there, but it seems to be what they are saying in the link. I'm not sure it would be that useful at that small, but I know I could use it for monthly financial reports I do for a charity.

On the other hand, I already have two 22 inch monitors that I'm not using.

This picture shows the smaller display open to a calendar along with an app/program list while the top screen is fully engaged in another program. That would be and could be extremely useful for me, at least/ alt text

Not sure I understand what this does.

          Just a bigger screen?

If you need all that screen real estate, you probably shouldn't be using a laptop.

I looked at that a few months ago and even posted photos. I was going to get one but then saved over half the money and bought this instead. Super happy with it. Battery life is not great especially when using the RTX 3060 gpu.

I’ve had a touch laptop for four years now. I’ve used it maybe once.

Same. It's why I went back to Macs. That and the software I use just worked better. With (by the numbers anyway) crappier specs.

                    Please love yourself.

That's why Apple has never moved to it.

That said, I use my iPad with a portfolio case that has a keyboard. But, I rarely use the keyboard, LOL.

Same here. It feels unnatural. The reverse is true of the laptop.

OK, maybe it’s new only to me …

                          Look at this laptop: https://www.asus.com/Laptops/For-Home/Zenbook/Zenbook-Duo-14-UX482/

It looks like something that Apple’s pathetic “touch strip” could have been. Not sure about the actual user experience or market acceptance, but I admire the innovation.

I have no experience with that Apple Touch Bar. However, the concept makes a lot of sense.

Depending on which program app you're using, the touch bar would change to offer you the functionality that you want.

Using "Word?" Appropriate options are available.

Using "Finder?" Functionality to change desktop background, deal with files, etc.

A lot of people loved it, but, apparently, not enough for them to continue the idea to the current iterations of the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

                            Hater here.

The reason why the concept doesn't make sense: You cannot use it "blind". You have to move your hands away from the keyboard and change the direction of where you look. It's not an effective method of communication.

Interesting. Makes sense. I have a Surface laptop and it’s great, but never use the touch screen. I do disconnect the display at times which is nice (it becomes a tablet, that I use with touchscreen), but I have an iPad I use if I plan to be in tablet mode for a while.
