I’m spending my first night in our new place tonight. We’re going to be camping in the basement until the floors and walls are done upstairs, although my office should be usable tomorrow if Verizon come through.
Movers came today - most of our stuff is temporarily in the garage. I have a garage again! In fact, I’ve got two! Inconceivable!
Closing on our current place was pushed back to the 14th, which reduces the pressure, as long as it goes through….
Glad it’s worked out well, especially compared to how things were looking a month ago.

Sadly, we don’t have anything like Horace’s view, but as Canadians we do have a couple of maple trees which are going to briefly look gorgeous in a week or two

Congrats, and if your current place doesn't close until 10/14 you could always go back there and sleep on the floor, for old time's sake. We have a few maples as well...I think they are called flame maple or blaze maple or something...anyway they turn ridiculously bright orange/red in mid/late October. So much so that it gives a nice orange hue throughout the house, LOL.

To go with the maples, we have an Eastern black walnut, which drops hard, hand grenade size fruit unexpectedly. It’s going to need to come down as it touches the house and also because it drops hard, hand grenade sized fruit unexpectedly.

Black walnut makes some awful pretty wood...Even makes good gunstocks.
Yes, we thought we might keep some and see what we could do with it

Roomy is very goodWhat do your kids think of the new place?
They’re coming around to the idea - I think they’re upset to leave the house they’ve always known as home, but they can see the potential of having more space.

We finally closed our house sale yesterday. The buyers, their realtor and their attorney were scumbags, which made everything a lot more stressful than it should have been as they didn't negotiate in good faith. We should probably have walked away earlier, but it's done now.
I am now officially a resident of Rhode Island. I need to pick up a ukulele-banjo on the way home from work and start talking funny like.
We start moving up from the basement this weekend - they've sanded and polished all the floors, and it's painted white pretty much throughout.

Pics?
Not until it’s fixed up a bit. I might try to get some pics of the floors as they look great. There’s still quite a bit to do outside. They tore the deck down on Wednesday so it’s a building site

Congratulations. It's good to be rid of yet another worry.

At least you'll never have to deal with them again. The last 3 times I bought/sold property, I didn't go to the closing. That's what lawyers get paid to do.

Every workout I can get through without an injury is a workout I am thankful I could do. I don’t take any of them for granted in my deteriorating orthopedic state.
