The Chicago Police Department introduced a new vehicle pursuit policy in August 2020. The order provides officers with 11 pages of instructions that they must consider when deciding if a vehicle should be pursued. It specifically states that CPD will not discipline any member for ending a motor vehicle pursuit.

What are the chances that the three armed murderers on the run surrender?
What are the chances that at least one officer gets shot?
What are the chances that any or all of the murderers get shot?
If the murderers do get shot and even if the shooting is perfectly justifiable, what are the chances that these police officers wind up sacrificing their careers and having their lives ruined?

My original point was to why the reason was not included in the story. Yes, I was curious about why the termination, but that was secondary to the fact that the reporter didn't see fit to include the reason for it. It seemed pretty glaring as an omission.
Maybe it was "obvious" to you, but it's a poor reporter who leaves some part of the coverage to the assumption of the reader.
