Is Massachusetts a sanctuary state? I know Florida isn't.
https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/sanctuary-cities-massachusetts-migrants-marthas-vineyard/
Massachusetts is not a sanctuary state, but there have been proposals for it on Beacon Hill. A sanctuary city or state is a location that limits cooperation with federal immigration laws. There are eight cities in the state that are sanctuary cities. They are Amherst, Boston, Cambridge, Chelsea, Concord, Newton, Northampton, and Somerville. What they do is legal, and how much they cooperate can vary from city to city.

@Copper thanks.
Send 'em to Cambridge.
Harvard would love to have them.
A school like that needs a lot of undocumenteds to handle the landscaping.

Blowing was involved one way or the other.

One thing that seems to be missed in the reporting, or at least the memes, is that the glitterati had left by the time he did this. What you had mostly were the year round residents who are far more ‘normal’

Texas sheriff will investigate Florida flying Venezuelan migrants to Martha's Vineyard
September 19, 2022 06:05 PMSan Antonio, Texas — Authorities in Texas have opened a criminal investigation into Gov. Ron DeSantis’ operation to fly roughly 50 Venezuela migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard last week.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said in a news release Monday that his office is investigating whether the migrants were the victims of a crime.

For those of you who are against what the governors of Texas and Florida did - why are you against it?
My opinion is that the immigration issue is a national issue and not a state issue.

Sounds like a jurisdiction issue. What business does a Texas sheriff have investigating Florida activities?

One could say, "What business does a Florida governor have moving people out of Texas to Massachusetts?"

Well, that brings up a huge point. MV said they didn't have the facilities to house illegals.
Bullshit.
They had hundreds of empty houses.

Gee, maybe they need to file a suit against the midnight flights of the Biden Express.
Those were certainly not voluntary.

There's actually a fair amount of poverty on The Cape - if you visit off season, it's quite surprising how poor some of it is, and there are a lot of drug problems. I guess The Vineyard might be a little different - I've never been.
