Caribou, polar bear, musk ox, ptarmigan, along with arctic fox and lynx.

Lynx ain't bad if you cook it right.

And do be careful with polar bears...They do hunt people.

          You forgot arctic hares.

When I used to hunt, my friend's cousin once brought along a German fellow who was a butcher by trade. He was quite an outdoorsman and had a trapper's license. He brought out some mystery sausage he had made. It was excellent. After a couple of days of guess the mystery sausage, he confided that it was lynx and beaver. No puns please.

          Elbows up!

Another bucket list trail. Always been interested in the "Off the track" places and Bhutan is one of those. Looked into going there before, but never had a real chance. They very much limit tourists - dont want the "cheap" backpacker type. You have to spend USD $250/day (I think).

Mildly interesting fact. I believe that Bhutan has a cabinet position that is called the "Minister of Happiness"

Tourists should also be able to point out Bhutan on a map, or even answer whether it’s a country or city, before they’re allowed to go. Yes, this would’ve eliminated me.

That could easily be something you would see in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

                  And it's a lot closer.

We have the freedom to choose our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on.

I see stuff like this every day.

Oh - and if you see a black bear here and decide to fight back, tell us where to send flowers....

@jolly that would be very cool. I have read a couple of "trail diaries" of people who did it. Seems like a lot of fun.

On a depressing note, read the following article. About a quite experienced hiker who went unprepared on a winter hike. Ended up not making it. Interesting but quite sad also.

Found his diary (both written and video) documenting his failure of life.

Couple of ways to do it. He started in the early spring in Georgia and hiked to Maine.

What was funny, was that after he got back home, he couldn't sleep in a bed. He slept on the floor of his bedroom for most of two weeks.😄

Another trail that is way out of my league, but there are people who have done it in a pretty continuous hike. Took them at least 1.5 years. Probably fun to do parts.

Not making it to Arctic Circle Trail this summer for sure. Not sure when/if it will happen.

For @George-K and @mark there what looks like a cool continuous trail that covers Wisconsin. The Ice Age Trail That one looks definitely "doable".

I have ridden my bike on part of the Ice Age Trail. The entrance is about 12 miles or so from home.

From Wash DC to Wash state. 3700 miles.

The preferred route of the Great American Rail-Trail connects 150+ existing rail-trails, greenways and other multiuse paths spanning more than 3,700 miles. These trails are hosting the Great American through their communities, making possible this grand vision of a nation connected by trails. And with more than 55% of the route already on the ground, now is the time to experience the Great American Rail-Trail!

Probably be another 10 years or so till it is finished.
