@George-K glad to hear! Yeah there are storylines that persist, and the character development is great. Really makes you care about more than just one or two lead characters.

In season 5, they resurrect a mass-murderer suspect from the previous season (don't know how it'll resolve yet) which makes the whole arc so great.

"Hey, remember 7 episodes we told you about this guy? Yeah. Guess what...we're bringing him back, and we're gonna finish the story."

    Just brilliant.

There are so many examples of "Checkov's gun" in this series, and it's fun to see how it gets fired in the next episode, or even in the next season.

I've tried to watch "The Wire" at least 3 times, and I always get bored, confused, or tired. "The Shield" is how a good cop show should be done.

Really happy you’re enjoying the show! I’ve wanted to watch The Wire but haven’t done it yet. There’s another show I will start watching first (soon) but won’t name it as I’m religiously strict about avoiding spoilers of any kind 😂

I’ve only seen 23 all though and then another 25 in varying degrees. Interesting how much good stuff I abandoned for one reason or another.

Putting The Shield in the queue.

It's now, what, 15 years old?

What's happened to all the stars?

          Chiklis is not doing much.

          Dent is not doing much.

And the guy who played "Danny's" partner is in jail, serving a 40 year sentence for murdering his wife....

And Walter Goggins is on a lame sitcom. The shame.

            WHAT???

He was brilliant in The Shield. He was more awesome in Justified.

But, SRSLY, watch "The Shield." Even though it's >10 years old, it feels fresh and edgy.

First place I saw him and I picked him out immediately. A tour de force as Boyd Crowder in Justified. Totally edgy. Great on SOA too - fearless.

Now he's on The Unicorn. While his acting is of course very good, the show itself is meh. I wanted to love it since he was in it but just could not.

I also did not care much for his show about Navy seals.

The first movie I remember seeing Goggins in was The Apostle with Robert Duvall.

I will have to watch it again. Did not know he was in it. I will watch anything Duvall does. Possibly the best American actor of his time.

Really enjoyed The Apostle. Not sure why, Duvall’s performance was just captivating.

Finishing up season 4 of The Shield.

                          Truly remarkable.

In the dictionary, under "edgy" you'll find "The Shield."

                          Finished it this afternoon.

If you haven't watched it, get a HULU subscription and immerse yourself in the anti-hero world that is Vic Mackey.

Considering that this show finished up 12 years ago, it's still timely, edgy, and engaging. It hasn't aged at all.

There are so many great characters, with interlocking stories that weave a greater narrative.

It also has one of the best endings to a series - right up there with "Six Feet Under."

                          Seriously, watch this.
